Curiosity
While hiking along the Elkwallow Trail, between milepost 23 & 24 of the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park, a momma doe and her two fawn are discovered. Here the fawn siblings are alerted to my presence and appear to be curious about me instead of fearful. The fawn continue to stare and and feed on the greenery for a number of minutes before seeking momma does protection.

Looking for Mom
A fawn is spotted along the Elkwallow Trail, between milepost 23 & 24 of the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park, just a short distance from its mother and sibling. After being alerted to my presence, this fawn begins to make its way back to its mother, just a short distance away.

Hemlock Springs Overlook
Located at milepost 40 of Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park is the Hemlock Springs Overlook. Sadly, the hemlock are all gone, victims of the hemlock woolly adelgid. Here, the clouds hang low on the mountain tops. If not for these clouds, you could view into the head of Nicholson Hollow, which bends to the right at the foot of the ridge. The high poiint a little to the left of center is the The Pinnacle, with a "V" shaped view of the Piedmont to the right of it. Still farther right is the rounded dome of Hazel Mountain, and then the broader dome of Catlett Mountain (2020)

Ivy Creek Overlook
The Ivy Creek Overlook sits at milepost 77 on the Skyline Drive of Shenandoah National Park. This overlook provides a distant easterly view of the Wyatt Mountain outside the park boundary. Moormans River Overlook
Located at milepost 92 on the Skyline Drive of the Shenandoah National Park is the Moormans River Overlook. Looking southeast, the Charlottesville Reservoir can be seen just outside the boundary, as well as the Middle Mountain just beyond. The ridge to the east (right), leading down to the reservoir is Pond Ridge. On the south (left) is the Sawlog Ridge. Residing on milepost 95 on the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park is the Sawmill Run Overlook. Facing southwest over the Jarman Gap, the Turk Mountain can be seen to the east, as well as the Ramsey and Calf Mountains to the west. Calf Mountain Overlook
Located at milepost 99 of the Skyline Drive of the Shenandoah National Park is the Calf Mountain Overlook. Ironically, the Calf Mountain is opposite and behind this overlook. Here, this westerly view of the lower Mikes Knob and Ramsey Mountain (below this overlook) is hanging on to some dancing clouds and water from a recent rainfall. (2014)
