The McPherson's Barn on McPherson's Ridge. This barn was the scene of the intense fighting that took place between Union and Confederate forces on the first day of fighting at Gettysburg. After the end of the battle this barn was pressed into service as a Union hospital.

James Samuel Wadsworth
Brevet Major General James Samuel Wadsworth, commander of the 1st Division of the 1st Corps, whose division suffered significant losses during the battle of Gettysburg. The division held off attacks on the first day of the battle allowing union forces to come up. But on the second day suffered heavy casualties when Union forces fell back to Cemetery Hill.

Eternal Light Peace Memorial
From this hill, the confederates attacked, threatening union forces on McPherson's and Oak Ridges on the first day of the battle of Gettysburg on July 1, a863. 75 years later (1938), over 1800 Civil War veterans helped dedicate this memorial to "Peace Eternal in a Nation United".

Confederates View
